Acne Scarring Laser Treatment Options
Infinity Skin Clinic in Sydney is a specialist in acne laser treatment. We have strive for understanding of the unique sensitivities of skin affected by active acne. We work with you to resolve its negative effects.
Treating uneven skin texture and colour is typically sought once most of the active acne has resolved. In Sydney, Infinity Skin Clinic provides a service that targets the unique needs of acne-damaged skin.
We offer a variety of treatments for this prevalent skin condition, including specialised medical-grade skin care. These products contain more active ingredients than ordinary skincare. Our chemical peels are non-invasive and have varying degrees of strength, used to treat acne scars, pigmentation and uneven skin tone. We also offer the non-invasive HydraFacial, which helps calm the skin and gently and deeply cleanses it, all the while, limiting damage to skin texture and minimising the risk of discolouration.
We also use the Halo™ Hybrid Fractional Laser, which uses patented fractional technology to deeply penetrate the deeper skin layers. This treats acne scars and skin textural irregularities.
At Infinity Skin Clinic, we also use SkinPen collagen induction therapy, which helps reduce acne scarring. This device encourages a uniform, even distribution of treated skin and is customisable to the patient.
Acne Laser & Acne Scarring – Q & A:
This is very much dependent on each patient’s needs. Not everyone has the same degree of active acne or scarring. There are also several treatment options available. How many of these treatments are required depends on the condition of your skin as well as your goals. Once your skin is evaluated by one of our skin therapists, you will have a better idea of how many treatments you may possibly require. To achieve noticeable, long-term results, you will need to have patience and realistic expectations.
This is also dependent on the treatment you choose. Laser sessions may require a day or two of downtime due to redness and swelling. Whether downtime is required after a chemical peel will depend on its strength. The stronger the peel, the more likely it is that a day or two of downtime is required. SkinPen treatments also produce some redness and swelling but not to the extent that downtime is required. Some patients choose to take the rest of the day off, while others simply use mineral makeup for coverage.
A HydraFacial is comparatively the most gentle treatment option and won’t require any downtime. Patients are free to resume their usual routines directly after a HydraFacial. In many instances, a combination of treatments is used, so taking a day off might be best. You can discuss what to expect during your consultation so that you can plan accordingly.
A HydraFacial is one of the more gentle acne treatment options, so discomfort isn’t a cause for concern. As for skin peels and laser treatments, the sessions are typically bearable. However, we employ techniques to reduce patient discomfort, which we will discuss at your consultation.
In most instances, patients can expect some mild swelling and redness for several days, most of which can be covered with makeup. Following a Halo™ Hybrid Fractional Laser session, patients may also experience some itching. It’s important not to scratch the skin to avoid further scarring and infection. If a strong peel is applied, the skin may flake after a day or two, which is when patients choose to spend some time at home.
In the case of a HydraFacial, there are commonly no side effects, so no downtime is required at all. After every appointment at Infinity Skin, it’s essential that you protect your skin from the sun. Your skin therapist will also provide you with specific aftercare instructions based on your treatment plan.
