As you age, your skin’s collagen and elastin break down faster than your body can rebuild them, causing your skin to lose elasticity. This results in the development of wrinkles and increasingly loose skin which eventually begins to sag.

Thermage® is a revolutionary, safe, non-invasive skin treatment that uses radio frequency energy to remodel the skin’s collagen. It smooths out wrinkles and evens out the skin’s tone and can be performed on any type of skin. The effects of this therapy help to tighten and lift skin, evening out your skin tone, decreasing wrinkles and fine lines and giving you a more youthful appearance.

How does it work?

The radio frequency energy of a Thermage® treatment uses heat and cooling: it combines highly targeted heat energy which penetrates into deep tissues with cryogen to cool the top layers of the skin, ensuring a safe and comfortable experience during the procedure. The heat acts to remodel the collagen, kick-starting the body’s natural rejuvenating processes to produce more collagen fibres which are normally lost through ageing.

Thermage® lifts and tightens by heating collagen. This causes immediate collagen contraction, followed by progressive collagen remodelling and tightening over the months following the treatment. Most patients have visible results right away, with many seeing some results immediately*.

Even if you do not immediately see distinct results, studies show that all patients have increased collagen in the skin. This helps to reduce the amount of sagging skin over the next two years, slowing down the visible signs of the ageing process. Treatments take one to two hours and you can return to work and normal everyday activities on the following day*.

Thermage® is sometimes known as a ‘non-surgical facelift’ and is an option for those who prefer one treatment as opposed to a series of treatments.

Only one treatment with the 1927nm wavelength of the medical grade Fraxel Re:store DUAL laser will improve dark pigmented ‘age’ spots, as well as improving the skin’s tone and texture but it can take up to three treatments*.

Three to five treatments with the 1550nm wavelength of the medical grade Fraxel Re:store DUAL Laser will show a significant improvement in acne scarring, and fine lines and wrinkles, as well as improving the skin’s tone and texture*.

Fraxel® can be used for treating the face, neck, décolletage and back of the hands. Treatments are performed using a topical local anaesthetic cream applied to the skin one hour prior to treatment in the rooms. The treatment itself usually takes about 20-30 minutes, and afterwards it feels like mild sunburn.
