Information

The Sciton NanoLaserPeel (NLP) or MicroLaserPeel (MLP) procedure uses a 2940 nm Erbium YAG laser to precisely vaporize (ablate) predetermined layers of skin with the Contour Scanner. The NLP and MLP are superficial peels that address the texture and tone of photo-aged or damaged skin.

The 2940 nm Erbium YAG laser wavelength of NLP and MLP is delivered through a scanning device that precisely removes layers of tissue by vaporizing (heating to high temperature) the water within the tissue.

This technique is the gold standard of superficial resurfacing. Using a computer-guided scanner, it precisely determines the optimal beam overlap to ensure thorough coverage and exact ablation of the skin’s outermost layers (epidermis). If you seek results beyond what treatments such as microdermabrasion or light chemical peels offer and desire a shorter recovery period than traditional skin resurfacing procedures, MicroLaserPeel is tailored for you. Typically, glycolic acid peels remove only the stratum corneum up to approximately 4 microns, and microdermabrasion also reaches around 5 microns. In contrast,

MicroLaserPeel can be finely adjusted to perform a partial to full epidermal peel ranging from 4 to 50 microns. NanoLaserPeel is 4-10 microns, while MicroLaserPeel is 10-50 microns (traditional resurfacing lasers such as TRL erbium and CO2 can treat up to 800 microns in depth).

MicroLaserPeel effectively addresses common skin concerns associated with aging and active lifestyles. This treatment improves skin conditions such as wrinkles, fine lines, scars, keratoses, pores, texture, tired and dull skin as well as pigmentation irregularities. Expect smoother, healthier, and more radiant skin, experiencing a noticeable immediate enhancement in texture and firmness.

Sciton MicroLaserPeel (MLP) & NanoLaserPeel (NLP) – Q & A:

The Sciton MicroLaserPeel’s beam is scanned over a treatment area to remove a very thin layer of the epidermis. Removing the top layer eliminates some of the damaged cells that can give skin a tired, aged look. As the skin heals, fresh cells grow and resurface the treated area. The result is healthier-looking skin, often with reduced fine lines and texture, as well as skin tone and vibrancy.

Fine lines and wrinkles, pores, scarring, texture, pigmentation and over all skin health.

Most skin areas can be treated. Popular treatment areas are the face, neck, chest and hands.

Excellent results can be obtained in just one treatment, however the number of treatments needed may vary from 1-5. Mostly people would require 2-3.

Yes, we love to combine it with our other Sciton technologies, such as BBL, Moxi, Halo and ProFractional, to amplify the results.

Your skin will be cleansed and your eyes will be protected with safety shields. We position the laser hand piece above the skin and will hold it in place as the computer-guided scanner moves the laser beam around the treatment area. Depending on the size of the area being treated, the procedure usually lasts 15 to 30 minutes.

One of the primary advantages of MicroLaserPeel is that it causes little pain because it does not penetrate very deep into the skin. At its most shallow settings, most people can tolerate treatment with no anaesthetic at all. At deeper settings, a topical numbing cream is typically used or possibly local anaesthetic injections.

Immediately after the treatment you will notice that the skin has a “frosty” appearance. This is the dehydrated skin that will peel away within next few days following the treatment. You may experience some skin redness and a sensation resembling sunburn, as well as mild swelling.

Depending on the depth of treatment, most patients feel comfortable enough to return to work within 3 to 4 days. Full healing is approximately 5-7 days.

We will recommend skin care products and instructions on how to use them tailored to your skin. Your skin will be sensitive to sunlight after the procedure, so you must avoid direct sun exposure until fully healed. It is recommended that you always use some sunscreen to avoid sun damage, hyperpigmentation and premature aging of your skin.

Because only the outer layer of skin is treated, most patients notice an obvious improvement in tone, texture and clarity once the skin heals in approximately 3-4 days. Deeper settings may take 7 days to heal. Within the first 2 weeks, you will notice results forming.
