A MINIMALLY INVASIVE PROCEDURE

Skinpen Skinpen

Information

It’s only natural for the underlying structures of the skin to deteriorate with age. The result is lines, wrinkles, large pores and uneven skin tone and texture. This treatment for scars and wrinkles is customised for your skin and cosmetic needs.

What is Scar and Wrinkle Treatment?

Scar and wrinkle treatment is designed for patients who want to target their cosmetic facial concerns, including the common signs of ageing. These patients may have concerns about melasma, surgical scars, acne scars, or lines and wrinkles.

The desired results typically take up to three months and may require multiple sessions, depending on the personalised advice you receive in your consultation.

What to Expect Following a Scar and Wrinkle Procedure

While experiences vary between clients, the following can usually be expected after a treatment session:

  • Mild redness and swelling for several days after treatment
  • Slight discomfort for the first 24 hours
  • Mild bruising
  • Minor crusting and scabbing for several days after each session
  • Skin dryness and tightness
  • Itching and tingling for several days
  • Skin peeling
  • Temporary darkening of skin pigment before it lightens

Scar and Wrinkle Treatment – Q & A:

This treatment is applicable to scarring, signs of ageing and skin conditions such as melasma.

This treatment is a trusted procedure that addresses common skin concerns non-invasively. If you want to know whether the procedure may suit you, book your consultation to discuss..

The treatment can be effective for both men and women of various ages with skin tones ranging from light to tanned. If you’re unsure, consult with our experienced team about your goals.

Treatment sessions may be successful on their own. However, incorporating LED Light Therapy after each session may be suitable depending on your therapist’s advice and instructions.

Patients who have active skin cancer in the area they want to treat should avoid this procedure. Those with irritated skin, open wounds, bleeding disorders and allergies to stainless steel also won’t be able to receive treatment. Lastly, patients taking medications that contain isotretinoin and women who are pregnant or nursing, won’t be approved for this treatment.

The treatment is minimally invasive, which means the risk of side effects is lower than that of invasive procedures. Your skin therapist will take you through any potential side effects during your consultation. Following specific aftercare instructions will also keep any effects to a minimum.

This is dependent on the patient – the recovery process is slightly different for everyone directly after a procedure. Most patients are able to resume their usual activities the next day. However, this excludes any activities that would produce excess sweat and irritate the skin.

Treatment won’t result in the complete removal of scars. Discuss your expectations with your practitioner to ensure they are realistic.

Treatment may target the appearance of concerns like melasma but cannot remove it completely or prevent it from recurring.

In most instances, clients need more than one session to achieve their desired outcome. The number of treatments required will depend on the condition of your skin and what you want to treat. Your skin therapist will assist you with a personalised treatment plan based on your needs. This treatment plan is reviewed later on once your skin starts to respond to treatment.

The results are considered lasting in most cases. However, multiple sessions and maintenance sessions are highly recommended.

It can take anywhere from three to six months to see results after treatment. This is mainly because the skin needs time to heal. Ultimately, results and timelines will be dependent on your treatment plan.

It’s best if you use skincare products recommended by your therapist following treatment sessions. After each treatment, your skin may be more sensitive, which is why the products you use matter. Certain products end up causing an allergic reaction when the skin has never absorbed them that deeply.

Following each SkinPen treatment, we recommend the following:

  • SkinFuse® Lift HG only should be used for 24hrs after your session
  • SkinFuse® Rescue Calming Complex should be used after the first day

*Note results may vary from person to person
