Anti-wrinkle treatment in Sydney has moved well past injections alone. What Actually Causes Your Wrinkles

Wrinkles fall into three broad groups, and the group matters more than the location. Treating a static wrinkle as though it were a dynamic one is the most common reason people feel disappointed with a result.

Dynamic wrinkles

Frowning, squinting into the Sydney glare, lifting your brows while you talk. Do enough of that over enough years and the skin starts to keep the crease, much like a sheet of paper that has been folded in the same place too many times. Forehead lines, the vertical lines between the brows and crow’s feet at the outer eye all start this way. Because movement is what drives them, anti-wrinkle injections are the usual starting point, since they temporarily reduce how much the muscle underneath moves.

Static wrinkles

Static wrinkles sit on your face when it is completely at rest. They are the result of collagen and elastin breaking down, cumulative UV exposure and the skin physically thinning over the years. Nasolabial folds, marionette lines, the fine vertical lines around the mouth and the crinkled texture around the eyes usually fall into this category. Movement is not the driver here, so relaxing a muscle will not fix them. These need collagen rebuilt, which is where lasers, microneedling, skin tightening and skin boosters come in.

Volume-related wrinkles

Not every wrinkle is really a wrinkle. Some of them are shadows. The fat pads and the bone underneath shrink back over the years, mostly around the cheeks and temples, and the skin that used to sit over that support has to go somewhere. It folds. Nasolabial folds that get deeper through your forties are usually this rather than anything happening in the skin itself. Put the volume back and you are working on what actually changed.

In practice, almost nobody has just one type. A typical consultation at either clinic finds dynamic lines across the forehead, static texture around the eyes and some early volume change through the mid-face, all in the same patient. That is exactly why a personalised assessment matters more than picking a treatment off a price list.

Non-Surgical Anti-Wrinkle Treatments at Infinity Skin Sydney

We run a Sciton laser platform across both clinics along with injectable, microneedling and energy-based options. Here is what each one does and the type of wrinkle it is suited to.

Anti-wrinkle injections

Muscle relaxant injections temporarily reduce movement in the muscles that create dynamic lines, most often across the forehead, between the brows and at the outer eye. Results generally become visible somewhere between four and ten days, and typically last around three to four months before movement gradually returns. Treatment itself takes about fifteen minutes.

These are prescription-only medicines in Australia. That means a consultation with one of our qualified medical practitioners is required first to assess whether treatment is appropriate for you, and no treatment can be prescribed or booked without it. Our approach is conservative: the aim is softened expression, not a face that cannot move. Volume restoration

This is the treatment people most often get wrong, usually by having too much of it. Used sparingly it softens nasolabial folds and marionette lines and brings some contour back through the cheeks. Used without restraint it looks like exactly what it is. We would rather build it up slowly across a few appointments than do the lot in one sitting. Prescription-only medicines are involved here too, so suitability gets assessed at a consultation and skin analysis appointment.

Halo hybrid fractional laser

Halo delivers ablative and non-ablative wavelengths in a single pass, so it works on the surface and deeper in the skin at the same time. It is generally chosen for fine to moderate static wrinkles, crow’s feet and overall skin quality. Visible recovery usually runs three to five days, and collagen keeps rebuilding for months after that. It is a common choice for people who would rather have one substantial treatment than commit to an ongoing series.

ProFractional laser resurfacing

ProFractional is an ablative erbium laser, and it goes deeper. It tends to be reserved for the stubborn vertical lines around the mouth and the finely etched lines around the eyes. Downtime is longer at five to seven days, with more collagen remodelling to show for it. ProFractional is often paired with Halo in the same appointment when both surface texture and depth need attention.

Moxi laser

Moxi sits at the gentle end of the range. Non-ablative, fractional, pointed at fine lines and patchy texture rather than anything deep. It is usually tolerated across a wider range of skin types, sensitive skin and deeper skin tones included, and you can expect roughly three to five days of light flaking afterwards. A lot of people meet it first in their late twenties or thirties, then keep coming back to it as maintenance.

Forever Young BBL

Broad-band light targets the UV-related pigment and fine lines that drive a lot of what people read as “ageing skin”. There is little to no downtime, which is why Forever Young BBL is usually used as an ongoing maintenance treatment rather than a one-off.

Laser Genesis

A non-ablative 1064nm laser that gently heats the dermis to stimulate collagen over a course of sessions. Laser Genesis handles fine lines and diffuse early ageing with zero downtime, so it suits patients who cannot take time away from work or want something to maintain results between bigger treatments. Available at Mosman and Surry Hills.

SkinTyte infrared skin tightening

Loose skin makes wrinkles look worse, particularly through the lower face, jawline and neck. SkinTyte uses infrared energy to heat the dermis, which causes existing collagen to contract and prompts new collagen production. No downtime, and results build gradually over several months rather than appearing immediately.

Ultraformer III HIFU

High-intensity focused ultrasound reaches deeper tissue layers than most surface treatments, lifting and tightening through the brow, jawline and neck. Ultraformer III suits laxity that is making folds and jowls more pronounced. There is no downtime, and because it works at a deeper level the effect generally holds longer than treatments acting closer to the surface, though this varies between individuals.

Microneedling: SkinPen and Vivace RF

The idea behind collagen induction therapy is fairly blunt. Make a lot of very small, controlled channels in the skin, and the skin does what it does with any injury, which is heal and lay down new collagen. SkinPen handles surface texture and fine lines, with roughly 24 to 48 hours of redness afterwards. Vivace RF microneedling puts radiofrequency energy through those same channels, which adds a firming effect on top of the collagen response.

Skin boosters: Rejuran and ASCE+ exosomes

Skin boosters are a different idea again. They are not filling a line or relaxing a muscle, they are aimed at the condition of the skin itself. Rejuran is a polynucleotide-based treatment, and ASCE+ exosomes is another option in the same category. Both are generally considered where skin is crepey and dehydrated and lasers alone have not resolved it, under the eyes in particular. Whether either is suitable for you is a question for your consultation.

Medical-grade skincare for wrinkle prevention

What you do at home between appointments decides how long your results hold. The actives that have actual evidence behind them are a short list:

• Retinoids: stimulate collagen and speed up cell turnover. The most studied anti-wrinkle ingredient available over a counter.
• Vitamin C: antioxidant protection against free radical damage, and a cofactor in collagen synthesis.
• Peptides: signal proteins that prompt fibroblasts to produce more collagen.
• Hyaluronic acid: surface hydration, which visibly plumps fine lines within days.
• SPF 50+: the single most important step. UV exposure is the leading driver of collagen breakdown in Australian skin, and no in-clinic treatment outruns daily sun damage.

Downtime and duration figures are typical ranges only. Your own recovery and results depend on your skin, the treatment settings used and how closely you follow aftercare.

Why One Treatment Rarely Does Everything

Dynamic, static and volume-related wrinkles have different causes, so no one treatment covers all three. That is the reason a plan built from two or three treatments in sequence usually gets further than repeating a single one. We call this treatment stacking, and the order you do things in matters as much as what you choose.

One combination we use often is Halo for resurfacing, Forever Young BBL for pigment and UV damage, then Laser Genesis to hold the result. Someone whose main concerns are movement lines across the top of the face and etched lines around the mouth might be looking at anti-wrinkle injections with ProFractional instead. Which of these applies to you is settled at consultation, not from a page like this one.

Prevention is a genuinely easier problem to solve than correction. Who Is a Good Candidate for Anti-Wrinkle Treatment?

You will need a consultation to determine suitability, which involves disclosing relevant medical and treatment history and talking through your goals. Broadly, anti-wrinkle treatment suits someone who:

• Is noticing lines and wrinkles from sun damage, ageing or facial expression
• Has spotted their first fine lines and wants to preserve collagen before deeper wrinkles set in
• Has other age-related concerns, such as loss of volume or skin laxity
• Has used topical skincare but wants a more substantial, longer-lasting change
• Wants a natural result rather than an obviously treated appearance
• Is a non-smoker, or is prepared to stop, since smoking impairs healing and accelerates collagen loss
• Understands the risks and benefits of the procedure being considered
• Is willing to follow aftercare instructions properly
• Holds realistic expectations about what is achievable

Anti-wrinkle treatment is not appropriate for everyone. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, certain medical conditions, some medications, active skin infections and recent sun exposure can all rule a treatment out or mean it needs to wait. What to Expect: Consultation, Treatment and Aftercare

Your consultation

Allow about 45 minutes. We take a medical history, run a VISIA Complexion Analysis, identify which wrinkle types you are actually dealing with, and talk through the options along with their risks, recovery and likely outcomes. If a prescription treatment is being considered, that discussion happens with one of our medical practitioners. You are given time to think it over. There is no pressure to book anything on the day.

Preparing for treatment

• Stay out of the sun and off sunbeds for two weeks before any laser or light treatment
• Pause retinoids roughly five days beforehand unless told otherwise
• Mention any blood-thinning medication or supplements, since these increase bruising risk with injectable treatments
• Let us know if you get cold sores, before any laser work around the mouth. Antiviral cover beforehand is sometimes needed
• Come in with clean skin and no makeup if you can

Aftercare

You will be given written aftercare instructions for whichever treatment you have, because they differ. A few things hold true across all of them. SPF 50+ daily, no exceptions. Gentle cleansing while the skin barrier is recovering. No picking or exfoliating while it heals, and no pools or saunas until it has. Skip strenuous exercise for a day or two after injectable or ablative laser treatment. Follow-ups are built into your plan so we can see how your skin responded and adjust from there.

Risks and Recovery

Every cosmetic procedure carries risk, including the non-surgical ones. Being straightforward about this is part of good practice, not a legal formality.

Injectable treatments can cause bruising, swelling, tenderness, headache, and less commonly asymmetry or temporary drooping of a brow or eyelid. Laser and energy-based treatments can cause redness, swelling, peeling, and less commonly blistering, changes in skin pigmentation (either lighter or darker), infection or scarring. Pigmentary change is a greater consideration for deeper skin tones, which is one reason treatment selection is individualised. Microneedling carries risks of infection and, rarely, scarring.

Results vary between individuals, and no outcome can be guaranteed. Some patients need more than one treatment cycle to reach their goal, and some concerns are better addressed surgically. Your practitioner will go through the risks relevant to your specific plan before you consent to anything. What Does Anti-Wrinkle Treatment Cost in Sydney?

Cost depends on which treatments your plan involves, how many areas are being addressed and whether it is staged over several months. Laser, skin tightening, microneedling and skincare pricing is published on our price lists page for both clinics.

For injectable treatments, we cannot publish prices. Australian regulations administered by the Therapeutic Goods Administration restrict the advertising of prescription-only medicines to the public, and that restriction covers pricing. The same rule applies to every clinic in Australia, not only ours. Your quote is discussed with you at consultation once a practitioner has assessed what is actually appropriate.

Cosmetic treatment for wrinkles does not attract a Medicare rebate. Multi-treatment plans can usually be phased across several months if that suits your budget better than doing everything at once.

Surgical Wrinkle Treatment Options

For more advanced concerns, or where a patient would rather have one longer-lasting correction than ongoing non-surgical maintenance, surgery may be the more sensible route. Options include facial fat transfer, browlift (forehead lift), and facelift and necklift, also known as meloplasty.
